V. Yvette Cheeks, RN MSN, brings a wealth of experience and passion for healthcare education to her roles. Since 2022, she has served as a Visiting Professor at Chamberlain University’s Houston Campus, where her dedication to student success shines through in every class.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Yvette has been a cornerstone educator at Professional Healthcare Education Service Inc. (PHES) since 2001, delivering Nurse Refresher and Texas Board of Nursing-approved Nurse Remediation courses for APRNs, RNs, and LVNs, alongside a wide range of continuing education programs.
Her expertise goes far beyond the classroom. Yvette plays a pivotal role in curriculum development, clinical competency training, and staff onboarding for hospitals, clinics, and home health agencies. Her former leadership positions as Director of Education and Staff Development at several Houston-area hospitals underscore her influence in advancing healthcare workforce training.

She routinely conducts competency evaluations, interviews, and skills assessments to ensure that nurses are well-prepared and meet professional standards.
At the heart of Yvette’s teaching philosophy is her unwavering commitment to high-quality, innovative instruction and student-centered mentorship. Her work continues to inspire and shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In early 2025, Yvette was featured in Vax-Before-Travel News addressing the resurgence of measles in Texas. She emphasized the critical importance of up-to-date vaccinations, stating, “We urge everyone to ensure their vaccinations are current to protect themselves and their communities from this highly contagious disease.” Her insights provided valuable guidance during a time of public health concern.
Additionally, Yvette commented on the first measles-related death in Texas since 2015, highlighting the severity of the outbreak. She remarked, “This is the first measles-related death in the United States since 2015 and the first measles cases in Texas since 2023,” underscoring the need for vigilant public health measures. Her contributions to media discussions have been instrumental in raising awareness about vaccine-preventable diseases.
