Can HPV-9/Gardasil prevent skin cancer? Can it heal warts?

The HPV vaccine, which protects against several strains of the Human Paplloma virus shows potential for preventing new spots of skin cancer from popping up in people who have had skin cancer in the past, a new report of two patients’ cases suggests.

Previous research has suggested that there’s a link between HPV and certain types of skin cancer.

Medical investigators have also been using this 9-valent HPV vaccine to treat hard to heal cutaneous warts and oral papillomas. See details in the Journal of American Medical Association at https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamadermatology/fullarticle/421281

In a previous study, they showed that vaccination against HPV in immunocompetent patients could prevent the development of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC).
